Jammu and Kashmir

Jammu and Kashmir, now a union territory, is often described as a heaven on earth for its stunning Himalayan landscapes. The Kashmir Valley is famous for Dal Lake, snow-capped peaks, and Mughal gardens, while Jammu is revered for the Vaishno Devi shrine, drawing millions of pilgrims. The region is also known for its handcrafted Pashmina shawls, saffron, and Kashmiri cuisine like Rogan Josh and Kahwa.

Kashmir has been a cultural crossroads for centuries, influenced by Persian, Central Asian, and Indian traditions. Sufi shrines and Buddhist monasteries co-exist here, especially in Ladakh, now a separate UT. The region has produced poets like Lal Ded and Allama Iqbal. Despite political complexities, Jammu and Kashmir’s beauty, culture, and spiritual depth continue to enchant visitors and shape its resilient identity.
