Sikkim

Sikkim, tucked in the eastern Himalayas, is India’s least populous and second smallest state, but one of the most scenic and environmentally conscious. Dominated by the majestic Kanchenjunga, India’s highest peak, Sikkim is rich in biodiversity and home to high-altitude lakes like Tsomgo and Gurudongmar. The state is also a center of Buddhism, with important monasteries such as Rumtek and Pemayangtse drawing visitors and devotees alike.

Sikkim is known for its peaceful society, organic farming practices, and clean, green governance. It was the first Indian state to be declared fully organic. The population is a mix of Lepchas, Bhutias, and Nepalis, contributing to a colorful culture and a variety of festivals. Notable figures include Baichung Bhutia, the former Indian football captain. Sikkim continues to set an example in sustainable development and cultural harmony.
